Every plan comes from the Australian Energy Regulator's public Energy Product Reference Data, the same data behind Energy Made Easy and Victorian Energy Compare. We download every current residential plan from every retailer listed by the AER. This data was last updated 24 September 2026.
We show the rate a plan pays at midday, when most solar is exported. If a plan pays more in the evening, or only pays its top rate on the first few kWh a day, we say so on the card.
For the household you choose, we estimate a yearly bill: the daily supply charge, plus the power you buy from the grid, minus your solar credit. For time-of-use plans we average the rates over 3pm to 10am, when solar homes buy most of their power. The cheapest plan on your network scores 10 and the most expensive scores 0. The estimate leaves out discounts, fees and demand charges.
We don't currently earn anything from retailers. If we add sign-up links that pay us a referral fee in future, we'll label them clearly, and they will never change the order of the rankings.
Plan data changes often. If something looks wrong, check the plan on Energy Made Easy or with the retailer before you switch.
